Barnaby is an urban strategist, researcher, and publisher with expertise spanning design, architecture, placemaking, and urban regeneration. He has contributed to projects ranging from post-disaster interventions to digital modeling for the UNESCO-listed Sagrada Familia. As a researcher, he has published extensively on temporary urbanism, pedagogy, and participatory design. In 2007, he co-founded Freerange Press, publishing over 30 books on cities, design, and politics. An advocate for active transport and community-led urbanism, he has played a key role in initiatives like Christchurch’s post-quake rebuild and Sydney’s WalkSydney. Barnaby also teaches architecture and design across Australia and New Zealand.
